"Things which were cast down are being raised up, and things which had grown old are being made new, through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."
                    - BCP p. 280

Dear St. Columb's faithful,

The Rector, Wardens, and Vestry are excited to announce a Spring stewardship campaign to pave the way forward at St. Columb's! The campaign follows our Easter announcement that we are ready to repave our entire parking lot this summer. That got us thinking, what else could we do together?!?

Thanks to an incredible generous lead gift from a donor in our parish, we are ready to accept a bid on the parking lot now with minimal impact on our cash reserves. However, we could use your help to close that gap and do more to ensure our campus is as beautiful and inviting as our service on Easter Sunday!

Therefore, our goal is for the parish to match our lead gift of 100k through contributions (gifts) and pledges (over a two-year pledge cycle). As we receive those funds, we will use them to cover the full cost of the parking lot and then to fund projects on the "Spring Wish List" included below. This campaign will run through Eastertide, culminating in a celebration at the feast of Pentecost on Sunday, May 19.

Parking Lot

If you've driven onto our campus lately, the first thing you are likely to notice is our failing parking lot. The lines for parking are not clear, there are a number of holes and eroding areas, and water fails to drain properly after a good rain. We are ready to renew the face of the church by repaving and re-striping our parking lot. We believe this effort will make a huge difference in making our campus more beautiful and inviting.

This project includes:

  • Pouring a 2 inch layer of asphalt over the entire surface

  • Milling and replacing failing sections of the lot

  • Raising sections of the lot for better storm drainage

  • Cutting ramps into the sidewalks for easier access to the nave and the kitchen

SPRING WISH LIST

Beyond the parking lot, we have a number of "wish list" projects to help pave the way forward. We will only spend after gifts are received, and we are asking you to help us prioritize the order of projects by voting on the Wish List by clicking the button above.

Outdoor Landscaping

A couple of years ago we received a generous gift to begin improving our landscape design at the front of our campus. Kent Hawkins, a current member and retired landscaper, drew up some great designs which we’ve started and hope to complete. The design includes thoughtful plantings for beauty, function, and longevity, in addition to wooden railings to accent the curb and separate the lot from the garden bed. The design stretches the length of side of the lot adjacent to Sunnybrook Rd. and includes a spot for a new sign at our central entrance in the future.

New Outdoor Sign

As you've probably noticed, it can be easy to miss our current sign. It has served us well for nearly 30 years, and it also blends into the scenery around it. Thankfully, our resident artist Andy Young has sketched a design of a beautiful steel and stained glass sign that will elevate our presence on Sunnybrook Rd. We hope to share the sketch of the design soon.

Outdoor Lighting

We have received feedback from our parishioners and visitors that our lighting in our parking lot is insufficient. In order to make everyone feel as safe and secure as possible, we want to upgrade our current lights to be brighter and more useful to all.

Project Budget - 20k

Indoor Painting

Nothing says renew like a fresh coat of paint! We hope to get the interior of our Parish Hall repainted with a lighter, more airy color that will open up the space.

Project Budget - 15k

Indoor Furnishing

We’d like to improve the quality of the interior design in the meeting spaces of our Parish Hall. This will include refurnishing our library, classrooms, and better decorating our hallways with images and graphics that tell the story of St. Columb’s!
